tread more lightly.
If you love your Bogs, then we’ve been on a journey together. A journey to increasingly decrease our carbon bootprint. We have always made Bogs to last, and have heard from so many customers how their old Bogs have become someone else in the family’s new Bogs. We even have a Reuse-A-Boot program where we pay for customers to ship their old Bogs to us, then we refurbish them and donate them to outdoor non-profits. Step one is getting as much use out of a pair of Bogs for as long as possible, so they stay out of the landfill. (Keep an eye out for used Bogs at consignment stores and garage sales.)
We’ve also been taking serious steps to be a better global citizen by using more earth friendly materials, reducing our waste, and increasing our use of energy from renewable resources. Here’s a sampling of some of the initiatives we already have in place and we will keep pushing and sharing with you as our bootprint gets smaller and smaller and smaller.

Better Materials, Better Products.
Bloom
Bogs is partnering with BLOOM to integrate algae-based EVA footbeds across our entire line. These replace the petroleum-based plastic foam found in most boots and athletic shoes. BLOOM has their own mission, which we’re excited to be a part of: cleaner air and lakes, rivers, and streams.
Gold Certified Leather
As we research and incorporate best green practices, we are working with suppliers who are on the forefront of responsible manufacturing. We insist that all of the leather we use in our products is sourced from gold-rated tanneries that use less water, less energy, and eliminate wastewater pollution.
Durafresh
As counter-intuitive as it sounds, some odor protection technologies have pesticides in them. We discovered that natural probiotics do an equally effective job without polluting our waterways with harmful chemicals.
Yulex
We learned that a company called Yulex was making wetsuits out of natural rubber, sustainably harvested in Forest Stewardship Council-approved regions. Then we discovered that the more natural rubber we used in our boots, the better they performed. Bogs Seamless Yulex boots are lighter and more durable than other boots. Classic win-win.
Recycle & Reuse
Our rubber factories minimize waste by using as much as 40% post-industrial recycled material. You’ll find recycled laces, outsoles, webbing, textiles and binding in our Classic Casual line.
For once, we focus on the great indoors.
We’re an outdoor brand.
But we’re also looking for ways to reduce waste and increase energy efficiency in our offices and distributiovvn center. As part of this, we’ve invested in solar with the goal of generating 100% of our energy from renewable sources by 2030.

For every boot, there's a box.
Thinking outside the box.
Packaging is a challenge in the footwear industry and we haven’t figured out the perfect solution yet. Right now we’re reducing our impact by using recycled cardboard, soybased-inks and natural glues.
